Norma Jean Quilt Pattern
Meet Norma Jean, the first quilt in the C.R. 822 Quilt Series! Inspired by potholders created on a simple hand loom, the quilts in the C.R. 822 quilt series follow that simple concept of ‘weaving’ colors together to create a multitude of familiar patterns. They celebrate color and simplicity with a hint of nostalgia. The patterns are available individually or as a bundle in the shop.
Norma Jean
6 sizes: Baby, Lap, Throw, Large Throw, Queen, and King
Norma Jean just has one version but as one of the most classic designs you can make as a potholder, that’s truly all you need. The baby size uses 3 colors and we add a color to get to the next size up. Lap uses 4, Throw uses 5, and so on. It is an excellent opportunity to showcase those colors and how they interact with each other.

Our Christmas Norma Jean takes inspiration directly from the backing fabric - a holiday print from Rifle Paper Company. You can get the kit for it from Global Fiber Shop!
6 Sizes
Norma Jean is written so that each size requires a different number of colors. The cover and the Christmas version above are throw sizes which require 5 colors. This Lap size uses 4. Below you can see how each of the first 4 sizes increase by adding a color. This continues and the Queen has 7 colors and the King has 8.
My favorite way to pick colors for Norma Jean, and all of the C.R. 822 Series quilts is to start with the backing fabric. I find something I really love and then pull colors from it. Most of my samples use the Ruby Star Speckled fabrics and I used my color cards to pick the perfect combo. (Get notified of the next available batch of RSS Speckled swatch cards here!)
We would love for you to check out the other quilts in the series! Patsy and Peggy are just as fun, colorful, and perfect for any occasion!
