The Basics

We focus on edge to edge all over quilting at Trace Creek Quilting in order to keep our prices low and our turnaround fast. If you prefer custom work we can refer you to other excellent quilters in the St. Louis area via our Friends of TCQ in the above tabs.

  • $.0275/square inch all over/edge to edge longarm services. We have a minimum charge of $50.

  • 4 weeks or less turnaround time, though we are happy to consider earlier return requests.

  • Domestic return shipping is available at a flat of $15 for one quilt. Any additional quilt in that same return package is $5.

Quilting Pantographs

You can browse our current offerings on our PANTOGRAPH LIBRARY. We have some favorites listed for you, some reduced pricing pantographs, and a whole FAQ page that gives more info than you ever needed to know about our pantos.

Don’t see what you are looking for? No worries! You can send us a photo of something you like or browse some of our favorite sites, all listed in the FAQ page, and we are happy to explore it with you.

Quilt Prep:

  • We encourage you to:

    • PRESS all your seams. No worries, we will address the usual wrinkles that result from packing or transporting.

    • TRIM dark threads on light colored tops so they do not show through.

    • PIECE and SQUARE your backing:

      • It should be at least 4 inches longer and wider on all 4 sides than your quilt top. (Ex: 60” x 70” quilt top should have a backing of 68” x 78” or more.) It can certainly be larger; unless you indicate otherwise we always return significant scraps back to you.

      • Have backing questions? See the button below for ALL the answers!

    • Make your BATTING decision; will you use TCQ’s batting or send your own?

      • Batting should be at least 4 inches longer and wider on all 4 sides than your quilt top. It can be pieced.

      • TCQ can provide

        • 50/50 cotton/bamboo blend that is 96” wide at $3/linear foot. King sized batting (120” x 120”) is a flat $40.

        • 100% wool that is 96” wide at $4.50/linear foot. King sized batting (120” x 120”) is a flat $55.

    • If quilt backing or quilt top have a top or bottom orientation that is not obvious, mark it.

Mail Your Quilt Top:

  1. Complete the order form. Make note of any questions I can address once I have your quilt.

  2. Pack your top, backing, completed form, and your batting and binding fabric (if applicable). We strongly encourage you to pack your fabric in a plastic bag to protect it from unexpected elements and moisture.

Drop Off Your Quilt Top:

  1. Complete the order form. Make note of any questions I can address once I have your quilt.

  2. A big, brown, weatherproof drop off box is on our porch 24/7 for your drop off convenience. We always appreciate a quick text, phone call, or email that you will be stopping by but it is not required. Nor is an actual appointment time necessary as we will not be meeting in person. The box is cleared every weekday evening.
IMPORTANT: If your project DOES NOT fit in the drop box, DO NOT leave it on the porch without confirming that we will be able to pull it in the house at the end of the workday.

Additional Services Available:

  • Rush Service

When 4 weeks is too long we are happy to consider earlier return dates. We can very often meet your deadlines though we strongly encourage you to check with us before sending your quilt. Any request that we accommodate that requires us to work outside of our usual parameters will incur a rush fee of $50. This usually only applies to very fast turnarounds but be sure to check!

  • 50/50 cotton/bamboo batting 96” wide: $3/linear foot.
This is a low loft sustainable and environmentally friendly option that is supremely soft and has a divine drape. Quilts that are bigger than 96” wide will get a king batting package at a flat fee of $40.

  • 100% wool batting 96” wide: $4.50/linear foot.
All natural and with a bit higher loft, this is a great option to make a warmer quilt or get more definition on the quilting. Quilts that are bigger than 96” wide will get a king batting package at a flat fee of $55.

  • Machine binding services: $1-2.00/foot.
You can simply provide the yardage for binding, instruct us to use leftover backing fabric, or include pre-cut strips of your own. We use standard 2.5” cut strips (rather than bias strips) and attach it by machine. It is $1/foot if you would like for us to attach it to the quilt and then leave it for you to turn and hand bind. It is $2/foot if we do it from start to finish by machine and you take home a finished quilt.

  • Piecing Backing: $10-up
We are happy to help wrestle your backing into submission and piece it for you! Be sure to reach out if you have questions about measurements, directional fabric, or anything else.

  • Quilting Pantographs: If we purchase a panto at your request, that cost will be passed on to you. (usually $10 - $16) Quilting pantographs that are extra dense or take a long time to stitch may be more than our standard per inch charge.

  • Completion of quilt tops: adding borders, sewing squares together… contact TCQ directly for pricing and consultation.

  • Anything else? Just reach out! We are happy to help with additional tasks when possible.
