Almost Plaid Quilt Kits

I am beyond thrilled to share that we have kits for Almost Plaid from Global Fiber, Lamb and Loom, and TCQ! Everything will be listed in their shops by April 25th though some might be up early!

Lamb and Loom has a super fun Ruby Star Society kit that you see here. Global Fiber has the cover quilt, a darling from Sugar Maple, as well as the adorable spring quilt below. I will have the red, white, and blue one listed in my shop shortly and if you pop over to the bundle side of my shop you just might find one or two that would be fun in Almost Plaid!

I highly encourage you to support these shops when you can. Even if you don’t need them for this kit, check them out for some backing fabric, or a bundle from your favorite fabric designer!

Use Your Own Fabric for Almost Plaid

I know a lot of us are fans of kits, but sometimes you have just the right fabric in your stash already, or have a specific vision you want to execute. That’s perfect!

Almost Plaid has a lot of versatility and there are soooo many fabrics that will work well. For the four-color version, one background fabric and 4 coordinating yet contrasting colors will keep with the pattern clear and popping.

If using fat quarters or scraps, the best way to achieve the intended visual effect of this quilt is to ensure that all the background fabrics are similar in nature (for example, all low-volume prints) and that all the color fabrics contrast with the background fabrics while still having enough variety among themselves to stand apart when placed side by side.

When I was trying to decide what the cover quilt should look like I mocked up an almost obscene amount of these. Here is a ‘little’ taste for anyone who is looking for some inspiration!

You can see I really liked the darker background. It just makes some of these colors pop! And the one that did get made - the kit I’m selling - is probably my favorite one. Below are even more with light backgrounds.

Okay, I’ve overdone it and I know it. Hopefully you are inspired, excited, and will be starting on yours soon! Thanks so much!!
